Scully rolled her eyes; this could only mean that Mulder wanted to get started on the serial exsanguination murder case now. She had been hoping for a bit of a vacation in Toronto. Mulder, however, never seemed to take a rest. "Detective Schanke, you're going in to work now, right? May we offer our assistance on the serial murder case? We've heard a lot about it and thought we could lend a hand while we're here." He turned to look at Mulder as they approached his car. "That would be great. We need all the help we can get. I'm heading for the morgue right now; why don't you hop in?" They rode in silence to the Coroner's Building where Schanke wanted to check if there was any new information on the bodies. As they walked into the room where Natalie usually worked, they found the dayshift coroner working on a shriveled shell of a body. The tall, gray-haired man stood up and stretched as they approached. "Hello, Detective Schanke!" he boomed. "Terribly sorry to hear about your wife. As for these cursed souls," he pointed towards the crowd of bodies overflowing from the freezer, "I haven't found anything new, but then again, I just got here not too long ago." Mulder took a look at the corpse on the table. "If you need any help, Scully can do some autopsies." "Sounds good," said the male coroner. Scully sighed. Natalie rushed down the hall. Hopefully, she could make sure that Jensen, the most competent coroner in their department, wasn't doing autopsies on the exsanguination victims. There were just certain things that needed to remain hidden. However, she overheard Mulder's suggestion. "Oh, no," she murmured to herself. End of Part 11
