Timeless (13b/?) by Elisa P. Black Natalie had been anxiously waiting for Mulder and Scully to come back in. She wondered what they were talking about; hopefully they didn't suspect anything. Schanke flipped through some of the latest coroner's reports. Tom puttered around the body; good thing he was a bit oblivious to oddities in the bodies. She didn't have to worry about him. But if Scully were to start examing these corpses, especially with these X-Files she'd heard about... Mulder walked into the room. Scully came in a second later, with her lips pursed as if she didn't like what had just happened. Natalie wondered what had happened but decided it was more important to get Scully away from the bodies. "It's about time to get over to the convention for the first presentation," she announced. Scully glanced at her watch. "So it is. You and I can go together. Mulder, what are you going to do?" Mulder looked over at Schanke. "Oh, I think I can tag along with Detective Schanke." Nat and Scully set off as Schanke and Mulder began to discuss the case. At the end of the presentation was a period for questions and discussion. In the middle of a rather heated debate Scully thought she hearda scream outside. She told Natalie that she intended to check it out. Natalie decided to go with her so the two excused themselves and stepped outside. They found a woman lying by the corner. Nat checked her out and found that she had fainted, while Scully turned the corner into the lobby. "Hey!" Scully's exclamation startled Natalie. Her friend started to run into the lobby, yelling, "Let him go!" Nat also turned to corner to a an old ragged man with his face buried in the neck of the front desk clerk. She'd seen this type of thing enough to know what it meant. Oh, God, Dana was running straight to her death. Unless... "Dana, stop!" she called. Scully kept going. "Hold it right there! I'm a federal agent!" "Dana, stop! Don't! It's already too late for him!" cried Nat desperately as she too, started to run. Scully didn't stop, and the old man dropped the drained body to turn towards her. They both gasped as he looked at them with glowing, blood-red eyes and dripping fangs. Scully stopped then, but she was already too close. The vampire moved towards her like lightning and reached for her... then pulled back suddenly with a hiss. Spinnig around, he rushed towards the front doors like a surreal blur. An even faster blur came rushing in, attacking the vampire. Scully and Nat could only watch in confusion until the blurring stopped and everything settled back into normality, as normal as it could be for these two ladies, that is. The new, younger-looking vampire stabbed the first one with a wooden stake. The first vampire disappeared with a horrible screech. The other one then turnedtowards them with a resigned frown on his handsome features. "Such pretty ladies. What a shame you had to see that." End of Part 13b
